Mariam Blushtein was born March 23rd, 1925 in Odessa Ukraine. A hot tempered, passionate, hardworking woman, she moved to the United States in 1975. She came over with her husband, three daughter, and an extended family large enough to fill a church. They were all fleeing to America for a better life, and more importantly, freedom to worship Jesus Christ openly.
Mariam has been through a world war, famine, hunger, and poverty. She remember's Nazi's storming her village and hid her best friend under floor boards so that they weren't taken off to death camps.
This video was taken in 2010, 4 years before Mariam came down with severe Dementia and Alzheimer's. She now has difficulty remembering her name, let alone her beautiful and colored history.
Mariam is physically still with her family, but the disease has taken her away mentally. Though she can not remember her story, her family forever will.
